FactsforLearning is a safe, grade-appropriate information and skill-building database for students in grades 2-8, educators, and parents. Its portfolio of authoritative content, teacher tools, and activities for students makes it a natural complement to curricular instruction, homework assignments, and research projects.

FactsforLearning's content providers are among the most trusted in American education:

  • World Almanac Books, publisher of The World Almanac for Kids and, since 1868, The World Almanac and Book of Facts, the world's top-selling reference book.
  • Weekly Reader Publishing, the classroom magazine publisher that has been informing and educating children about their world for 100 years.
  • Gareth Stevens, Inc., a leading publisher of curriculum-related, grade-specific children's reference books.
  • Oxford University Press, publisher of The Oxford American Children's Encyclopedia (2nd edition).
  • Teacher Created MaterialsTM, a leading publisher of grade-specific educational activities for classroom use.

FactsforLearning is available in two versions, an Elementary module for grades 2-5 and a Middle-school module for grades 5-8. Both offer full-text content delivery with accompanying graphics, providing links to related resources within and alongside the text.

The Elementary Module offers both a general and grade-specific home pages. The home-page design emphasizes browsing by subject from a central Topic Search panel and allows access to key information and activities by source. A special section for educators offers retrieval of activities by grade and subject area.

Content includes:

  • Full-text archives of classroom magazines from Weekly Reader® from September 2000 to the most current issue: Weekly Reader 2, 3, 4, and Senior. Student content is linked to corresponding Teacher's Guide material (giving related National Standards) and activities; activities are linked to the corresponding answer keys.
  • Unique archive of The World Almanac for Kids, from 1999 through the most current edition, with associated grade-specific activities from Teacher Created MaterialsTM.
  • World Almanac para Niños, featuring the full contents of The World Almanac for Kids in Spanish.
